Fun Easter Activities For Kids

Easter is a wonderful time to engage children in creative, active, and educational activities that celebrate the season. Whether you’re looking for fun activities indoors or out, here are some enjoyable Easter activities to keep your little ones entertained!

1. Painting Easter Eggs

Decorating hard-boiled eggs is a timeless Easter tradition. Provide children with paints, markers, or stickers to create fun designs like zig-zag lines, wavy patterns, and colourful dots. You can also try dipping eggs in natural dyes made from ingredients like red cabbage, turmeric, or beetroot for a unique effect.

2. Easter Egg Hunt

No Easter celebration is complete without an egg hunt! Hide chocolate eggs, painted hard-boiled eggs, or even plastic eggs filled with surprises around the garden or house. Create clues for an added challenge or let younger children simply enjoy the excitement of finding hidden treats.

3. Baking & Decorating Easter Biscuits

Get creative in the kitchen by baking Easter-shaped biscuits – bunnies, chicks, and eggs are perfect choices. Let kids decorate them with icing and sprinkles for a delicious and artistic treat.

4. Easter Cupcakes with Mini Eggs

Make simple vanilla or chocolate cupcakes and let children decorate them with colourful icing and mini chocolate eggs on top. You can also add shredded coconut, dyed green, to resemble a nest and put the mini chocolate eggs in there.

5. Egg and Spoon Race

Bring the fun outdoors with a timeless egg and spoon race! Whether you use hard-boiled eggs or plastic ones, children can dash across the garden, carefully balancing their eggs to avoid any spills. It’s a lively activity that gets kids moving and adds an extra dose of Easter excitement.

6. Eggshell Garden – Planting Cress Seeds

This is a fun and educational activity! Clean out eggshell halves and fill them with damp cotton wool or soil. Sprinkle cress seeds inside and place the shells in an egg carton. Sprinkle daily with a few drops of water to prevent it drying out. Within a few days, children will see tiny green shoots sprouting! And after a few more days, they will be able to harvest the cress for their salad.

7. Reading Easter-Themed Books

Curl up with your little ones and dive into delightful Easter stories featuring bunnies, chicks, and exciting springtime adventures. Explore our ‘Easter Books for Young Children‘ in the Resources area for some fantastic recommendations to bring Easter season to life.

8. Easter Baskets

Let children decorate small baskets or paper bags with stickers, ribbons, and Easter-themed cutouts. These baskets can be used for collecting eggs during an Easter hunt or as festive decorations.

9. Sock Bunnies

No-sew sock bunnies are an easy and adorable Easter craft. Fill a sock with rice, tie it into sections to form a bunny shape, and add a ribbon and googly eyes for extra charm. Once the bunnies are complete, why not organize a sock bunny hopping event or a bunny race? It’s a fun way to bring these handmade creations to life and add an extra dash of Easter excitement!

10. Bunny Hop Race

Put an Easter twist on the classic sack race with a Bunny Hop Race! Children can pretend to be bunnies as they hop their way to the finish line. It’s a fantastic way to burn off some energy after indulging in those Easter treats.

11. Jelly Bean Sorting & Counting

Turn Easter treats into a learning activity! Give children a selection of jelly beans and have them sort them by colour. Younger children can practise counting, while older kids can create simple maths problems using their jelly beans.
